I like her show. Some of the other shows are too "jittery" for my taste. She's relaxed and people oriented with all her recipes. I've been able with the help of a nutritionist to adjust some of her recipes (lower the salt and fat) that I found to my liking. One of my other favorites is "Unwrapped". Guess I just like shows and hosts that don't set my blood pressure to rising.

I also think she talks too much. And I can handle her saying EVOO but the rest of her cutie sayings are too much for me. "sammies" for sandwiches etc.

Don't watch cooking shows but sometimes listen to Nigela Lawson on NPR. I love to hear her talk and she at least admits when a recipe is high in fat and encourages moderation.

They ALL use too much salt and butter! That's why their food taste so good. At this house we use very little of both due to health issues. I couldn't bring home enough butter to cook like them.

I completely agree about Paula Deen. We stopped overnight (on our drive from N.H. to Fl,) to eat at her restaurant in Georgia and it was the biggest restaurant disappointment of my life. Neeeded reservations, very small and dark, food very, very greasy and the food bar was about the size that I have at home for a holiday. And yes, that accent is truly irrating!!!
Now, I do like the Barefoot contessa because she doesn't really put on airs. My favorite is Melissa deArabian. I've tried many of her recipes and they all come out great.
    Sorry about the PD venting.

LOL! Since I moved south, ya'll is like, well "like" and "ya know" from other parts of the country! You get so used to it you dont even hear it! but, I must guard myself not to get "southernized" by saying it.
I love cooking/baking and all the shows, I LOVE to see people eat their own food, cram it it more! Enjoy it, if someone wont taste their food there is something wrong w/ it, lol. The only cook I NEVER watch is some skinny, anorexic looking Italian girl (I forget her name). She oohs and ahhs over her dishes and then takes a bite that wouldnt feed a goldfish and Im sure she spits that out too - never trust a skinny cook!

I don't watch any cooking shows; my son does and he's a fabulous cook. He gave me her recipe for Grits with cheddar cheese - wonderful

Ina is overweight and getting larger. I see it in her cookbook cover photos. I have 3 of her books - not fancy cooking but good! She must eat what she cooks! Being overweight is SO BAD for all of us.....
I also like Alton Brown and Jamile Oliver. I don't bother with Rachel Ray's recipes. I make some of Martha Stewart's when I have tons of time. When I'm not quilting, I'm cooking - love 'em both!!!
