I love to hand embroider, but I've gotten lazy lately. I don't like to change the thread color...so of course redwork, bluework and blackwork are now my favorites. Love taking projects on road trips.

I can do hand embroidery but haven't in years. I do have a close friend who embroideries all year long while watching tv. She use Aunt Martha's transfer patterns and much more. She makes blocks and then I put them together and quilt it for her. We make a good team. Lol

I believe that hand embroidery is having a come back. My quilting friends are doing red work and blue work as a good take along project. My grand mother did a lot of fancy stitches and she taught me how to embroider. It was a good summer time project.

Yes! I do hand embroidery. I did a dear jane with alternating pieced blocks with embroidered blocks......I do redwork blocks. ...... and use embroidery to accent applique blocks. ....... plus I gave my embroidery machine to my daughter because I thought it was boring.......just my opinion.

We spend alot of time in waiting rooms when my dh has dr appts One time I noticed a lady working on a monk's cloth with embroidery and asked about it. She called it swedish embroidery which I had never heard of.

My mom does cross stitch and she uses some monk's cloth sometimes as well as aida cloth.
