Does anyone know why....Question about Paypal
#1
When receiving money for items sold over on the classified section, some payments come through with the option of printing out a shipping label (BUT $$ is taken out by paypal for their service). So then my net payment is less depending on how much money is sent by buyer.
While others that don't have the option of printing out a shipping label doesn't have any money taken out.
I thank Paypal for offering the service, but I would prefer to have the money instead of them :)
I hope this makes sense...

When there is no money taken out, there is no option in paypal to print out a shipping label.
When there is extra money taken out from the net payment, there is a button that shows "print shipping label" .
I think when the buyer is sending payment there are options like "gift, ebay purchase, services..." perhaps they are choosing "gift", then there is no additional $$ taken out.
It's only like $1.80 for every $50, but that all adds up in the end.

They probably sent it as a "gift".
For what it's worth, you can print a PayPal shipping label for any package, even if the buyer didn't send payment via PayPal. You'll just have to type their address in manually. Here's a link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now]https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now[/url]
(You may have to copy and paste it into your browser; it's a secure link.) :)
I even ship Christmas gifts with it.

If someone pays as a gift or for a service, there's no label option (because in theory, there's no need for one). If someone pays for goods, then there will be a label option since you would be sending the item. Fees are taken out for payments of goods and services and none for gifts.
The fee is 2.9% plus 30 cents or 3.9% plus 30 cents for cross border payments.
eta: sorry-posted at the same time (although I'm apparently pretty slow).

Paypal charges a 2.9%, plus $.30 transaction fee to accept payments for merchandise - whether cash funded or by credit card. With these transactions, you have the option to print a shipping label.
If someone pays you using the "Personal" option, there is no Paypal fee. There is no shipping label option & the buyer does not received Paypal protection if there is a problem.

Thanks, I've noticed this too and wondered a bit about it! Thanks also for the info re printing a label. I had tried to print a mailing label 2 weeks ago and it didn't work and did get the $ back so good to know that also works well.
