Both of our goldens do this but Ruby made a display of it every night. She would go round and round and move the dog bed or blanket and paw at it until it met her satisfaction. I read where wolves did this in the past to chase away snakes. Maybe it is an inherited trait.

One of the signs of labor starting is the mom 'nest' She digs and digs. In fact one girl I had, in the middle of winter, started nesting outside under the juniper!

They get themselves all comfy and just 'so' on the sofa, I know they are just daring me to move them!
Who is that in your avatar? Soo cute. Is that a Besenji? Did I even spell that right?

I am so suprised that so many people have Beagle or Beagle mixes. . . love the ears!!

I don't have a dog but my cat will use her nose and raise a quilt or whatever and crawl underneath for her naps.

My Socrates doesn't do the nesting, but he does bring a bunch of stuff to sleep with.. While I'm sewing or working on the computer, he sleeps in a dog house.. At night he needs to be picked up to get on the bed.. He has a ritual of getting off the bed, and picking up all kinds of stuff to finish off the day with.. He's a pack rat..

Yup, and sometimes if I have the nerve not to have a blankee on the floor they'll scratch at the floor as if they could rumple that up. Silly pooches!

I have two that like to "fluff up" their sleeping spots, even when theres really noting to fluff. Its kind funny to see them trying to fluff the carpet.

I give them blankies on their beds just so they have something to fluff.
