Yes, my hubby cooks. I shared in another thread about his cooking. He has a collection of cookbooks and he has his favorite cooking shows he watches. It's great, cause me the kitchen have never seen eye to eye. So the deal is, he cooks and I'll clean up after him. Today is our 38 wedding ann. and his cooking is better than ever. We're both round Hobbits.

Luckily I had a life saving surgery but ever since, we now team cook and it's fun. It gives me peace to know that should something happen to me, he'll be able to take care of himself and run the home as he had to take over and do it all plus work for 18 months. He also helps me with the cleaning since I do have some limitations on what I'm allowed to do but so far, we haven't been willing to hire help as long as we can manage.

We recently saw my inlaws 89 & 90 have to sell their home and move into a senior complex because my mother in law was no longer able to maintain the home or do the cooking or shopping and my father in law just couldn't bring himself to step in and do it - it was woman's work. It broke his heart to have to sell the home they built and loved after 59 years but you know what, I have no sympathy for him. His brother lost his wife several years ago and he still lives alone and maintains the home and does his own cooking. It took a lot of learning but she did have 2 years after being diagnosed terminal to help him learn how to take care of himself and their home.

My son and son in law both can cook and run the home and it's a good thing. So many of the husbands where we live (retirement community) do NOT cook or help around the house and they will be like my father in law, totally lost without their wives. They'll probably remarry quickly.

My husband's idea of cooking used to be order a pizza or pick up take out but now he can cook good and simple meals and can do enough simple baking to keep himself in goodies and I'm so proud of him and he's proud of himself. His genetic line is long lived and mine is not so the odds are very good he'll out live me and if so, he'll do just fine.

Everyone is refering to grilling. Is that what Aussies call Barbequeing? If so my hubby is good at BBQing. He does alot of cooking now that I work full time. He is even starting to get adventurous.

Mine will cook for himself, but rarely fixes anything if I'm home. However, he does the laundry and ironing as well as all the farm chores, so I'm not going to complain.

My husband cooks breakfast 90% of the time. I'm not a morning person or a breakfast person, so I really appreciate it.

Other than that, he handles most of the grilling. He CAN cook, since he lived alone for seven years, but he really hates it.

He's really good at making a roast in those bags. Even tho' he can make an edible meal, it's not really his talent. He sure can grill steaks tho'!!!! He just refilled the propane and that's dinner tonight when he gets home from work.

My DH started cooking (maybe in self defense) when I returned to college in 2001. I had classes at all hours. He found out that he likes to cook, even likes to try new recipes, and although I graduated the 3rd and final time (Masters) in 2008 he still does 90% of the cooking. I am soooo lucky! Gives me more time to quilt! Am I spoiled or what! (Oh, he likes to grocery shop too. We usually do it together, but when I am deep in a project, off he goes without me.) He is definitely a keeper.

Yes he does! Every night. I'm so spoiled, but I do have to clean up the kitchen and load the dishwasher - poor me -LOL.
When we met, he and my oldest son made fun of my pot roast, and made me cry. So when he asked me to marry him, I agreed only if he would cook. (I'd already tasted his cooking, so I knew I was making a good deal). Well, it's been almost 27 years now, and I wouldn't trade him for anything. He made a fantastic pasta salad and home baked bread for me to take to lunch at my friend's house today...what's not to love?
