I'm glad you have him back, and tags are the way to go. Both are chipped of course, but anyone who finds an animal firs looks for tags, most won't pay for a vet's bill to check for chips. They would either keep them or take them to the shelter, where they might or might not check them for chips.

Today I got tags for both my strictly indoor cats after reading of another board member's cat who got out. At PetSmart they make the tags right there in their own machine. Name of animal, my address and phone number while you wait. Well worth it because I know that Koko is big, fast and strong, would climb or hide if frightened, and timid Fredrica would hide and be afraid to venture more than a few feet from where she wound up after running.

I rolled with laughter about this! It is just WONDERFUL that your dog had tags on. Thank goodness! Bet your DH did turn all shades of red. LOL Thanks for the laugh. I do know that it could have turned out very badly, but it didn't & that is only why I am laughing. Huge Hugs

Growing up we had a Basset Hound. Our drive way was about a 1/8 mile long, we would drive up honk the horn and he would come running, he would get in, you could then drive to the house and he would get out. Well if mom didn't leave for a couple days the dog would "run away" up to the neighbors house. Mom would get a phone call, Sam is up here whenever you get out and about! lol He knew that by going to the neighbors (nearest neighbor was about a 1/4 mile up the road) he would get a car ride.

When I was a kid we had a German Shepherd dog that would jump into anyone's car if they opened the door. The dog catcher would drive up to our yard and open the door and in she would go....from OUR yard! This happened three times and the last time it did my mom called the mayor and told him if it happened again she was going to call the paper, the police (to report the theft) and a lawyer. It never happened again.

Yep understand the car word. We had to start spelling G-O and C-A-R and eventually they, two black labs, learned what that was too. But don't cha just love 'em?
