I used to have a GSD escape artist. He would cruise the neighborhood, chat with his friends, then wait on the porch til I got home. My avatar boy won't leave my yard at all. I LOVE that! It was all him, no training. I can do yardwork and he just hangs out with me! Oh, and his favorite command is "Load"!

My dog did that one Sunday afternoon when hubby had our 2 in the mtns for a hike. I got a call here at home from a man who stopped when he saw the dog alone. "Bear" hooped into the car, is as big as a small bear (He's a Karilien Bear Dog) and refused to get out. Thankfully, he has a collar with our name, addy, phone # so he called & said, PLEASE come & get your dog!!
