The period dress and hair styles are wonderfully done. Until the show, I didn't realize hair was still long and put up. I thought it was cut short. The first toaster was hoot and I thought curly irons were a 1970's thing. When they showed Mathew in the car and then the truck coming, my son started yelling not the car, not the car. He enjoys seeing the old cars.
I heard they are going to do a prequel. I wonder how the American and the Earl met.

Several of my friends who are even more avid followers than me said they won't watch again because they were so angry with the season end. I was quite shocked myself. Have to admit that half the appeal for me is the gorgeous clothing and Granny's wonderful comments.

I read online that season 4 will open six months later. Fellows didn't want to deal with having a funeral etc. for Matthew's character. There are a lot of interviews with the creator of the show to be found online.

Unfortunately, I was reading an article online months ago that said what was going to happen (they didn't warn about spoilers and I was NOT amused!). I didn't tell anyone else of course, and when my DH and I watched it and it was over he just said "What?!" Loved Matthew and Mary together, she probably be going back to her witchy self. I was sorry to read that it's going to pick up six months later. I think we needed to mourn with the characters. Now we (in the US) have to wait until January, 2014 for series 4. Also, series 4 is the last one that Julian Fellowes will be writing, because he's developing a show for America (on NBC, I believe). He'll be a hard act to follow.
