i think i eat mine left to right never thought about it.
speaking of corn my youngest son i think he was 12 when he asked this:
mom what do corn seeds look like?
and believe it or not my husband was going to answer him. i made him think about it for awhile then he got it. brain fart i guess lol.

I eat mine around the cob from right to left. This is not a cop-out, that is really how I do it. When I was a child I ate it from right to left. I also love lots of buttter and pepper -- no salt.

I used to go left to right but now with so many crowns on my teeth I cut the corn off the cob before eating it, not as enjoyable but when you get older, etc.... I love the Jersey Silver Queen corn with its sweet little white kernals that is being harvested here in mid August. I just shake a little black pepper on the corn and enjoy.
Here's a hint for those who like to butter their corn but hate to have their stick of butter get so messy. Save the thick end slices of your sliced bread and put the butter on the bread and run it up and down and around your ear of corn. That's how my Mother taught us to do it and my grandkids love to do it that way. May in Jersey
