Earth Quake!!!

Here in Southern VA we were rocked. Daughter has a grandfather clock that she can't get to work. She was napping and awoke to it chiming like crazy. Dogs running through the house barking and dishes rattling. She says she is coming to my house to stay tonight. :o) I think the center may have been around Charlottsville VA. Richmond got hit too. No deaths so far but a lot of bad nerves. The VA hospital in Salem / Roanoke VA has some damage to the frt door according to the news. My office in Collinsville, VA now has 3 cracks in the 10 x 60 front concrete porch :o( Still we all should hit our knees and thank the Lord that we were not like some of the quakes we hear about on the news. I pray everyday that we stay in God's favor. As a matter of fact - I think we all should plan on a mass private prayer at 9 pm tonight and give thanks :o) Know that I will say my prayer at that time. Where 2 or more gather there HE shall be also. Now exactly the right wording but everyone gets the idea. Wouldn't it be great to feel the power of PRAYER at 9PM tonight?

It hit here in Ilion NY about 2:00. It was really wierd. I sat at my desk going over some paperwork with a fellow employee and thought he was shaking my desk being funny. I'm looking at him and his chair is wiggling but he's not doing anything! We are both looking at each other like we are nuts! :) We both jumped up out of our haunted chairs and then everyone in the cubicles started saying..."WHAT was that?... Did you FEEL that? .... was that an earthquake?" It did go on for a good 20-30 seconds!! that doesnt sound like long but it is when your world is rockin!

I was, funnily enough, or not, in my LQS when they felt it here on Long Island. A Verizon repair man came running into the shop asking, "Did you feel that? Did you feel that?". He was up on the pole at the time. Some of the ladies working in the shop felt it.
I did not feel a thing. I will say, though, that I am from Southern California so I think I might be a bit desensitized to the feeling. It can be a very scary feeling for those that have not felt an earthquake before.

Still trying to get a reaction from my kinfolks in Milton, just a few miles away from you. Never remembered having one there when I was growing up there during the depression and WW2..we sure didn't need any more misery then.
Friends who lived in Missouri tell of their historic one in the 1800s, the New Madrid one, which, on reading about it on the Internet, makes my blood chill!
Just be careful, and do as Flylady suggests, have emergency stuff ready to grab as you rush out the door!!! There are usually some aftershocks to earthquakes.

Yes, I felt it in NC...I was checking in a patient and heard my co-worker's window rattling and was wondering why the patient in front of her window was doing that. Then I realized that the floor and my chair were shaking. I then asked the patient if he can feel that and his wife in the lobby said "yes", it's shaking the chairs out here. I'm use to earthquakes from living in CA but not from NC...LOL Pretty Weird.
People around here thought it was Ft Bragg doing their bombing practice's that they do all the time, because it does shake our walls.

Live 50 miles outside of NYC, wasn't sure what I was feeling. There seemed to be a quick rumble, thought there had been an explosion close by, then my phone rang, kids calling to see if we were alright.
My son was in a all glass building about 10 miles outside of the city, all fire alarms went off, water spraying everywhere, windows breaking, everyone running to the stairs not knowing what was happening.
The sad part of all of this is that the first thought that went into eveyone's head was 9/11 all over again.
So we all live in fear of another terrorist attack, everyday, in the back of our minds. Makes me very sad to think that they have won in some way.
