My BF is over at the coast in Oregon. They moved their camptrailer at 4:00 this morning to high ground (the high school). They hiked 1 mile to a bluff to overlook the jetty area and said the water is waaaaaay out beyond the jetty. I've NEVER seen that before over there......news said more tsunami's may hit....who knows.

She's on the phone now, says the water was out, then within 5 minutes the water was up around the jetty and had covered the whole beach!!! That's quite amazing for those that don't know the beach there. As we talked she said it receded again and now it's filling up the beach again!
Officials are saying this is another unrelated earthquake. I always thought anything after first quake was tremors also. At least, this is what is being reported.

Gaby4v,
Please let us know that you are still safe. How bad was Misawa affected by the Tsunami? It's been reported that Hachinohe was hit pretty hard. I hope you are OK. {{{ HUGS }}} Kathy B

Been watching all day! How horrifying for you. I have been in two earthquakes, small ones and they scared the begeezus out of me, so I can just about imagine how scary that 8.9 was.
Prayers for you and for the people of Japan.

I was in contact with one of our Q B forum members who works in the U.S. Embassy. Here is some information....."if 'missing' family to check with the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo web site and ask the consular staff to help them make contact."

It is wonderful to know that she and her family are fine. :-)

So many lives have been destroyed by this. The death toll will be many thousands. It is heartbreaking. The rescue and cleanup will be just huge. Life is cruel sometimes.
