Sorry didn't look. I couldn't understand why you mentioned the CO earthquake when quoting a post about Yellowstone. Kind of like saying oh it rained in Florida when discussing a drought in Texas.

I had just heard about it on the news.

I did google "yellowstone earthquakes", and there are several websites that show information that is collected in Utah. It looks like it has been active lately.

I am in Upstate SC and I did not feel it.

Some of the close areas did.

Last report said Irene would miss us but
hit the Outer Banks of NC.

It was reported that a few folks working in an office at Ft. Rucker felt the tremor. Those walking around or talking didn't feel it. They said that the reason some felt it so far away was due to the density of our ground in contrast to the ground in say Calif.

i watched the news too but noticed it was a good thing it wasn't bad cause alot of people were mulling around the building or on the steps. do they really think they will be less smashed when the building crumbles than being smashed inside? guess i was always taught to get out in a open area away from the building and trees that can fall on you. maybe that was just a ca thing? i grew up just a few blocks from the vault that runs along the bay in san diego ca. so been through a few shakes and almost tossed out of bed a couple of times.

We felt it here in PA. It felt like something slammed into the couch and all the lights were moving. We have a local limestone quarry that blasts at times and I knew it wasn't that. Our son works at a plant along the Ohio River in WV and felt it there.

My BFF's DH was the earthquake specialist for the UGS. He now works in Virginia at the USGS. Yellowstone and Utah have seismic activity virtually daily. My DH is a geologist and he says that any seismic activity is considered an earthquake. If they are small the are considered micro-quakes. Earthquakes happen along fault lines. They are everywhere in the US. Salt Lake City is sitting on a big one. One day in the future we will have a quake measuring a minimum of 7.0. If you look at the geologic records you will see that SLC is overdue for the "big one". That is why they are getting all the structures up to earthquake code around here. California also has lots of faults. I'm sure I could give you a longer lesson but I'm sure your eyes have glazed over by now

If you want to know about Utah earthquakes here are some links:
http://geology.utah.gov/utahgeo/haza...lt/eqfault.htm

http://quake.utah.edu/index.shtml

For national this is the USGS site. Shows all the earthquakes recently: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

enjoy!
