In the PNW we have had earthquakes frequently throughout the years. The reaction in the East seemed weird to us until you stop and think about the plates out here are not connected so the energy disapates more quickly than it does in the East. You folks out there have one big plate and that carries the energy far and wide. Glad to hear everything is ok.

We were living in the Tacoma WA area while expecting our first child very soon. I leaned back againt the counter in the bathroom and the full wall size mirror thundered with vibration. My husband said- careful how hard you flop against stuff. I kept saying- I couldn't have done that. Later we were told there had been a hard hit but break earthquake

my son was working on the 7th floor of a 56 floor casino in construction in Atlantic City.......all 3,000 were evacuated but after thorough search of premises, they all returned to work.

Beach goers said that the sand of the beach had movement.....
but most remained for the rest of the day......

I'm in MD and yes I felt it. Was in my basement sewing room sitting in a swivel rocker working on hand work when my rocker started rocking back and forth the wrong way and everything was a blur. Scared me big time and I don't care to experience another happening like that. We moved here from that area of VA 17 yrs ago. Can't imagine how those folks felt.

I lived in California, LA, for most of 1984 and, happily, never epoerienced a quake. Felt the one Tuesday! Was at work, just north of Boston, when the office plants started to sway and I felt those long rolling waves. Interesting experience but I don't mind waitng another 40 yrs for one to hit again!
