Since SC was mostly spared from Irene, I want to wish all of you in harm's way that same blessing. I am praying that she goes about her business several hundred miles away from all of us and that we have no more like her this year! All of you take care and let us know how you fare as soon as you can get back online.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I live in Lowell, MA just West of Boston, so hope we only have rain to worry about. Haven't heard from our daughter in VA, but she works in operations management at Dulles Airport, so she's probably working. I worry about her in these conditions, but she survived several hurricanes in FL when she lived there, so she knows pretty much what to expect. Stay safe everyone.

Our local news WJZ has only the Eastern Shore of VA, MD and DE and the Eastern side of the Bay receiving the heavy winds and rain.
While there are power outages the DC area, Dulles Airport is located further west AWAY from the hardest hit areas.
News has this as a very slow moving storm [10 mph] which is why the rain is heavy. The satellite image of this storm shows it to be the size of Texas!
The GOOD NEWS is the tides are going OUT and the much feared storm surge [as with Isabelle] bringing heavy flooding when the tides turn is NOT going to happen with Irene--thank heavens for small favors!
By lunchtime Sunday the little miss should be out of the Del-Mar-Va Peninsula!
So breathe easier, she's not in the hard hit area!
P.S. I used to live in Tyngsboro and know Lowell well! Miss the park that runs along the river--used to walk it with my kids all the time!
