I seem to remember doing these with sugar water also, but I'm sure liquid starch or even 1/2 starch 1/2 water would work great too. Not so sure about cornstarch???? Diluted Elmer's glue would work pretty well too, I'm sure. So pick one & post a picture please when you finish!

I think we mixed glitter in with the glue and water to make them sparkly too :D:D:D

I used to make hanging lamps like this with 1/2 glue and 1/2 water mixture

my brownie troop used a little watered down school elmers glue. I remember this !!

sister's group used liguid starch.. practice a little.

My kids and I made these years ago and we used liquid starch.. we soaked the crochet string for awhile first before we wrapped it around the balloons. I sat them on the counter for a day so that the bottom was flat and they would sit up after they were dry.

Don't use sugar water if you have problem with ants. I do, so used undiluted liquid (Staflo) starch. Did this when the kids were small. Brings back memories.
