Eclipse

Your picture makes me miss having horses in my life so much! He's beautiful.
DD and I watched the shadow the sun made through the leaves and through a colander. It was fun, but we would have never known there was an eclipse if it hadn't been so widely advertised. I used to live in Oregon, right in the path of totality, but now I'm in SoCal and only had a partial view.

We live in an area that was to get about 80% view of the eclipse. It had been sunny all day but about 10 minutes before the time it was to appear it started getting cloudy. Then just at the moment of its appearance it poured down rain. Five minutes later it was sunny again but to late to see the eclipse!

I found full coverage on Comcast channel 24 NASA channel. They had crews set up in each area where viewing was said to be good. Charleston, Carbondale, Hopkinsville, Madras, etc. plus the plane that was filming. From time to time, we would glance out the back window that faces West, and would comment on the dark shadows and how still everything was. We are on a hill and usually have a stiff breeze. Glad the frenzy is over.

We drove within 5 miles of Carbondale, IL (about 3 1/2 hr. drive one way without traffic LOL) and saw the full eclipse from a small town KC park with about 20 other people. It was awesome! The cicadas started chirping and the sunset was 360 degrees. Lasted almost 2 1/2 minutes. It actually is a bit closer to us in 2024 so will have another chance, I hope.
