Have you ever been occupied with your daily ablutions when one walks by? I grab the hairspray and freeze those suckers until I an no longer occupied, then flush them. I call it death by cryogenics with an insurance policy of drowning. Can't stand to squish them. We have lots of black widows in our plants - have to be real careful on the patio and yard. Yuckkkkkk.

I don't kill spiders, they are messengers. It goes like this......

If one is hanging around, it means change is coming, either good or bad. Usually bad, because in my culture spiders are known as tricksters. I can usually coax them out the door if they are near one. Or if they happen to spinning a web from the ceiling I can use a ruler or something and place them outside.

But I did ask a Shaman about killing them, he said leave them alone unless they are aggressive and chasing or charging you then get 'em.....LOL

I luck out when it comes to spiders. I live up in Maine and none are poisonous. (Unless shipped up here in freight) They're just harmless but slightly creepy-looking.

My 6'5" son squeals like a little girl every time he sees one. It is too funny. My daughter thought the tarantulas we found in the back yard were "cute" so Harry and Hera lived in aquariums in her room (free room and board) for years. My theory is she just wanted to keep her brother out of her stuff.

We usually don't kill spiders (I take them back outside) because I figure they just followed dinner into the house.

Yikes. I'm not afraid of spiders but the egg sack would have given me the willies.
