Embroidery Help needed....

Loosening the top tension slightly should accomplish the same thing as tightening the bobbin thread since on most machines you can only tighten the bobbin thread by messing with the screw on the bobbin case and that is something you don't want to be constantly doing since it's not easy to get it back to the correct position.

I have the same tension problem with my brother so i match thread on my Futura it does not happen but yes you can use a marker i have fabric markers but you can use a sharpie to do it if you can't match exact color use one like a high light or low light it will be fine no one will notice if you don't tell after the markers or fabric paint but it is more work

I always match the bobbin thread because I hate to have the problem you have. I also hate to see the inside of a jacket, or a towel or anything done in a solid color when the right side is multi-colored. It takes longer to do, but I think the job is much better looking. Otherwise, reduce the tension on your top thread.

Mythreesuns, before you tighten the tension on the bobbin thread, try loosening your top thread tension. It worked for me on my Janome 11000SE. I also try to match the bobbin and top thread color when I can. Please don't toss out the jacket. Try the marker trick. You'd be surprised at what other people don't notice:-)

I have a Bernina 830E and when I machine embroider, I must hook the bobbin thread twice to get the proper tension. For regular sewing, I only hook once. And I always check to see that the bobbin thread is not showing when I first start stitching the project and make adjustments then. As for next time, I suggest you use a bobbin thread to match the sweatshirt or jean jacket or whatever.
When I first read your quest for help, my first inclination was to suggest your pigma pens. I had my 4Hers do this when their stitches showed. Old trick!

Using the same embroidery thread colors for your bobbin eliminates a lot of your issues. It is just one of those problems that happen and there is an easy fix. For right now, use the markers to fix your project.

I am taking machine embrodary classes to learn to use my embrodary machine. I had the same problem with one project the teacher said it sometimes happens and had me take fabric markers and maching the colors touch up the white treads. I did and it worked well. Cant see it. Hope this works for you.

I have a Designer I and when that happened to me, I kept test stitching and lowering top tension. I finally had to turn the screw in the bobbin a tiny, tiny bit to get the thread more balanced. I encourage you to test out the settings. Did you treat your sweatshirt as a knit? The Embroidery Library has some good tutorials on how to stitch out on sweatshirts. Just a thought. Good luck.
