It's a ceiling fan with a light kit but the light and fan are wired separately so there are separate wall switches for both. Bulbs are incandescent so no ballast. Candelabra based 60 watt that came with the fixture.

Yeah leave the switch alone. You may flip it just right and don't want to lose everything.

My DH is an electrician. He says it could be a loose connection in the light switch or the junction box for the fixture. When it gets cool, the wires are together, as it heats up, they pull apart. Check the switch for loose connection. (He said the switch may be shot) Check the fixture wires, the yellow or red twist locks could be loose or check to see if the twist lock has a black mark on it. (Burn mark) In the switch, the wires could be loose on the screws. Pull on them slightly to see if the wires are tight on the screws. A couple of ideas to check out.

Thanks. We did check the wires on the switches. One was slightly loose and dh tightened it but it didn't help. If we have to check the wiring in the fixture, we'll have to do that ourselves. The switches and wiring were installed by the builders but we installed the fan and light. We installed one in every room and this is the only one having issues. We may go ahead and swap out the switches first to see if that's the problem. If it gets into wiring beyond the switches or the fixture, we'll have to call someone.
