Been there, done that - both myself and one of my five children. I agree that the eye patch needs to be convex so it doesn't touch the eyelashes or eyelid. The doctor's office provided one for my four year old. I switched the elastic to satin ribbons because her hair was a mop of curls and the elastic tangled. Her sisters decorated the patch, plus they also took care of doing the exercises with her. They must have done a good job because her eye is fine. Watch your little one around stairs when she has the patch on.

Get a second opinion about the patch treatment. After I made two of my children do the patch thing (they hated it) I moved to a new area and was told by three eye doctors there that the patch method was not effective in many cases. The reason they cited for using it was to make the parent think they are doing something good for their child.

The main problem with the patch that goes over the glasses, is that the patch doesn't cover the side of the eye, which the child then tends to look out the side. As long as she'll wear your patch, that's great, my granddaughter wouldn't so we finally gave up. She eventually had the surgery and should still be doing eye exercises but she's too lazy to do them, so she's old enough to take the consequences, if she can't pass the driver's test for her license, oh well, she can walk, ride the bus, or ride her bicycle.

I made an eye mask so I could sleep when it was light outside. You can buy them too and cut them down. I embroidered a pair of eyes on the mask. The grandkids got a big kick out of it. They all wanted one for themselves.
