I love using bathing suit material, lycra and spandex. The colors are beautiful, solid colors and florals, they look very summerish. Plus the stretch makes them comfortable in the summer heat. I also use the same pattern for all of them, same way with slacks. Made in different colors and/or florals, no one knows the difference. I also love this material for skirts and summer jackets.

If you want cool to wear summer pants, nothing beats rayon for breathing. I made some for a trip to a hot and humid area, it was the best thing I had packed. It was better than wearing nothing! They make some fabulous rayon batik fabric. Currently manufactured rayon is not the rayon of 30 years ago that was impossible to iron and get the wrinkles out. The "new" rayon drapes wonderfully and irons easier than most cottons. It is a natural fiber so preshrinking is recommended.

Denim, canvas or twill, even better if you can get some with elastane or spandex mix. Velvet is good for a dressy pair but you have to be careful cutting to cut in the direction of the nap. Shot silk also good.
