Fabric and salt water?

I did a little research, and denim jeans are one clothing item usually made with indigo dye. Indigo is an organic dye, and salt will help set it. Jeans are often over-saturated with dye, so they often crock. The idea of over-saturation is to allow creases, etc. that get a larger amount of rubbing to fade more than other areas of the jeans. thanks learning more here. I will have to do that with the jeans. I know we always washed our panty hose out in salt water or the knee highs cause it made them last longer. I haven't thought of that in years as I don't need to wear them anymore.
