I also think part of being successful is learning where your abilities lie. I'm glad my parents let me sew, not decide I should keep struggling to be an athlete! Beating your head against the wall in repeated failures may be brave and show tenacity, but it could also be telling you that you are barking up the wrong tree, and should try something else!

That's inspiring and encouraging, but looking at those pictures I can't help but feel thankful for missing out on some of those pains! If you mess up a quilt or algebra class at least it can't usually put you in the hospital or the morgue!

I have always told our children, do the best you can and that is all that is expected. I also remind them, if they spend their lives trying to make everyone else happy, then their gonna have a miserable life. Follow your dreams and make yourself happy 1st. Within reason of course!
