I would rather be safe than sorry, my machines checked out clean. I know many are questioning the FBI doing this, but if you read about this problem, they set up a clean area for those who are infected to be able to get online, that will be shut down on July 9th.

Seems international hackers have done a ghost click ad scam that will disable some computers soon. FBI has a site to go to in order to find out if your machine is infected or not: www.dcwg.org

This is a link to the FBI's website on scam: http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams. It mentions nothing about this. It seems to me that some of you are going to another web site (Not FBI) and letting them scan your computer -- and possibly infecting your computers or hacking them. If there was a BIG threat imminent, don't you think it would be heavily covered in the media? I also subscribe to "geeky newsletter for non-geeks and this has not been mentioned at all. Please be careful of allowing scans of your computer from remote sites that you are not 100% certain of.

Please be careful. The official FBI cite has nothing about this: http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams

There was an official article on it in Yahoo News yesterday. It is legitimate. It is being reported in the media.

CNN reported on this too came on my homepage yesterday. I agree an abundance of caution must be used however when letting any site scan your computer. I will be writing to the online firewall/security company we use to secure our computers and see what they have to say.
