I just requested money from Pay Pal and see that they are charging a "small fee". Has this always been and I missed it? What if the buyer requests money to be paid to me. Is there a fee then? I thought is was too goo to be true.

I agree, you should read up on Paypal's policies and fees on their site.

You mean requested money from a buyer via PayPal?
Or you requested a transfer of your funds from PayPal?
If it's the first, you're a seller.
So, yes, there's a fee for using PayPal.
Just like a merchant pays Visa or Amex a fee.
It's been there for ages.
Doing the transaction legally also provides protection to both the seller and the buyer.
If it's the second scenario, you aren't charged a fee to transfer your own money.
And I can't think of any circumstance where PayPal charges BOTH the seller and buyer fees for the SAME transaction.
Do you have more detailed info from where you "heard" this?

True - no charge as personal transaction for sender or receiver. I send money to my kids this way all the time. Much more efficient than sending a check.
If you are a seller there is a fee.
Never had fee as a buyer.

When you withdraw money from your Paypal account, there is no fee if it goes right in to your bank account electronically. If you want them to send you a paper check through the mail, then yes there is a fee.

From Paypal :
Sending Money to Friends and Family in the US:
* FREE when you use your bank account or PayPal balance.
When you use a credit or debit card, the cost is 2.9% of the total amount sent plus $0.30 USD per transaction. You choose whether you or the recipient covers this cost.
Paying for a Product or Service:
* FREE when you send money to a merchant to pay for something you bought.
****I kept reading and see where I was confused because the person sending the money decides who pays the fee ***** So there is only one fee involved - sorry

Don't think one can win either way. When one practically gives fabric away and then pays the gas to go to the postoffice, I wonder if it is really worth it. So I should ask the buyer to pay me and see if they absorb the fee or pass it on to me?
