I got a used Janome a while ago and I felt the same way, especially since I already had a working sewing machine. It took me several days to even use the thing. It sat on the sewing table and I kept looking at it and feeling a little sick to my stomach that I had spent that much just for something for entertainment purposes.
But of course we have warmed up to each other quite nicely by now.

Enjoy it. Sometimes we need all the bells and whistles and I'm sure it will last longer than a Walmart one. I sold machines in my quilt store and learned quite a bit about what and who to buy. Look at all the baby things you can make from soup to nuts.

Trust me......I bought one of those cheaper machines at Walmart and was sorry afterwards. Unhappy until I replaced it!

Please enjoy your purchase. You EARNED it. You are worth it. Pretend your hubby gave it to you as a present--then you don't have to feel guilty for being good to yourself. You DESERVE it. Enuf said?

I say shut the voices off in your head and enjoy your machine. I had a quilting machine in my den...never had time to learn to use it and felt bad when I did for spending so much. So one day I packed it up and sold it. Believe me, my husband liked to have broke the sound barrier getting to the store to buy a big screen tv.

yes, I spent many, many years of my life feeling guilty about a lot of things...and then I discovered quilting.
I felt guilty about that too, at first. The more I sew and create and share, the better I feel, so you have felt guilty, now it's time for that feeling to pass...it isn't a requirement btw...I wasted a lot of time feeling guilty and it didn't help a thing!
now, go and enjoy, or your expenditure will have been in vain.
Honor your hard work and saving...by enjoying and creating!!!
    That is a requirement ;-)
