It seems that those type of door handles could prove to be a problem for cats and dogs...even little children.

How can anyone give away their cat? That is the most adorable cat ever and all he wants is to be loved. No way I would ever leave Mr. Peach behind!

my mom had a black cat about 25 yrs ago that would open the door and let himiself in. she would go food shopping and my son, about 4 then, would go out to help her carry things in. he'd get to the back door, and cal, "Pepper". and he'd run up the stairs, stand on the wrought iron railing, and pull on the door, and let himself and my son in. it was the cutest.

it wasn't so cute when he'd catch a bird, run in under the dining room tables and let him go.
