Glad you got hubs to the doc. If we don't hear from you in the morning we will know that you are still sleeping!

My DH has sleep apnea and has a CPAC machine to help him sleep and continue to breath! It works - most of the time he gets a good nights sleep.

Agreed, a box of cats and a comfy recliner will cure any insomnia.

I've taken Trazadone nightly for over a year. I have not had any issues at all with side effects. And...you don't sleep through full bladders. :-) Those still wake you up. Your DH will feel much better when he's able to get a good nights sleep. It's been really helpful for me.

I've been on trazodone for at least 10 years. Works great for me. Some people can't handle it tho. My daughter got very high blood pressure and heart rate while on it. Tonight she just told me her friend is on it and it is making her heartbeat irregular. So just watch for those two things. Sometimes they prescribe a huge dose and it really isn't necessary. I take a very small dose only at bedtime and sleep like a baby.

Hope it works well for him!

I've been taking Trazodone for almost 2 yrs for restless leg syndrome. I need to have a few sips of milk before bed so it doesn't give me stomach cramps (I had gastric bypass 6 yrs ago). And I was told to take it about 1/2 hr before bed but I find that as soon as I take it I start getting very sleepy, as if I don't hurry and get into bed I will fall asleep immediately. But after this time I can't seem to stay asleep. I wake up many times during the night. I think I've built up an immunity to it. Doctor wants me to wean off of it so I'm trying to skip a night here and there. I do hope it works well for your DH.

I take it... I discovered that if I take too little I still can't sleep but if I take a little too much I can't wake up easily in the morning and am groggy for hours. My doc told me to take 1-3 tablets though.... I don't know if its the same for your husband.

Can he take Melatonin or Valerian Root or drink Chamomile tea right before bed? All are natural, none are addictive nor have side effects.
