May your recovery be speedy, and your new knee much better than the old one. I'll be watching for updates as mine both creak and crack up and down the stairs. Sure can't sneak up on anyone!! I have spoken with many that wonder why they waited so long to have this done.

Good luck to you, and BE SURE TO DO YOUR THERAPY! I remember when my mom broke her hip she wouldn't take anything for pain as she didn't want to become addicted to painkillers. Of course, this hindered her ability to do her therapy so she finally conceded that a little pain med would be OK if it would inable her to do some exercises. From there on she did great, and was out walking before anyone could believe it.

Thankfully it is almost never as bad as you think it will be. Hope the mending will soon be behind you but maybe now you can get some handwork done that you have been putting off.

You'll be surprised how fast you recover. I have 2 new knees
now at 73 and love them both. One 10 years old and the other
is only 4 years old.
I had to be able to climb stairs to my sewing room after surgery
to get to my sewing room. Believe me that helped the recovery time.

I know you will be glad you had the surgery once you get your ROM back. That takes a lot of PT. My daughter just had a partial replacement of her right knee. It's been tough for her to bend the knee but she is still going to PT. She can't drive to work until she can bend the knee enough to manage the pedals.

I had both total knee replacements in 1997, same time. I was so glad I had it done and over with and once I was healed, I felt so much better. Keep up the rehab and soon you will be walking without pain!

Oh, I'm supose to have that done too. Have been putting it off. There should be Rehab orders for physical therapy! Call your doctor's office.

I don't know anything about recovery from this, but you should be able to call someone, such as your doctor's RN to get specific information that you need.

Thanks for posting that the anticipation was the worst part. Just sharing those words will no doubt help others who face the same surgery.

Our son-in-law just had the same surgery last Friday. The Dr. told him to do a lot of icing and stay off of it bend it at times so it doesn't get stiff. I had the same thing about 12 yrs ago and had to do the same. No problems now, so hope you have a speedy recovery.

Wishing you well! I had both my knees done same day 7 yrs. ago. I was back doing most things in 6 wks. Drove in 4 wks. Since then have had one hip done. That was easier! Still love to sew.

Do your therapy had my knee replaced a year ago this past March they were bending it in the hospital and I was doing stairs on the second day. Keep it iced and by all means keep moving and bending it so it dont get stiff. Best of luck for your recovery

I envy you - I had a total knee replacement on May 4th and I still can't drive, can't bend my knee totally - can't sleep through the night - can't take a bath - had to stay in rehab for 4 weeks - what am I doing wrong????
