My mom and I visited Gastonia, North Carolina yesterday. It is about 3 1/2 hours from where we live now. As many know Gastonia is the home of Mary Jo's Fabrics (love that store). We DID NOT go to Mary Jo's :-( nut we did each find a new place to live there. My father became very ill last summer and passed in January. I came to WV last July to help my mom with him and I am still here. She does not want to stay here so we have been checking out different places to move. This was our third trip and final.Yeaaa! My mother has never lived alone so she is very happy about getting "her own place" and it is big enough for her sewing room. I will be living in the same complex in the next building so she will not be totally alone. I hope we are able to find a good guild to join. I am going to start researching that tonite. October 1st will be MOVING DAY. Cannot wait to shop again at Mary Jos.

I have a friend who just moved to Charlotte last month. She is a fairly new quilter and expanded her skills in our guild here. Unfortunately, her husband's work took her away from us. She did find a local guild with about 250 members. Felt this was a bit too large for her so she is going to go to an area quilt shop for their Sit and Sew in hopes of meeting other quilters.

It would be nice if someone on this board knew of quilt guilds in that area that might not be that large and it could help you both.

I used our search field for Gastonia NC. Lots of hits. Looks like you will be surrounded by Quiltingboard friends. The best to you and your Mom.
