A Folk Art Angel and a Story about Joyce Howard

Here is the angel all blocked in. Now I have to trace all the strokework and flowers on and start to paint those.
For the strokework pattern, I just trace lines for directions of the strokes and the brush and paint does the strokework. Most of the florals are also strokwork, where the brush is loaded with a couple colors and applied. I will post as I go along and try to show some of it.

Yes I will hang it unless it is sold. I am doing a little craft show in December. I will watch out for you for a pattern. Pm me so I have your information to contact you when I do.

I just finished the Wall Angel. This is the painted stage. After 24 hours, it will get a coat glazing medium, that has to dry and then, I will antique it and flyspeck it. I will use black and white for the specking and will post another pic.
Flyspecking brings the open areas together.

Rosy, I missed your posts about the pattern! Thank you so much. I don't know if I'll still be in time to bid for it on E-bay but I'll give it a go.
Your angel is looking so beautiful! What lovely work you do. I will watch to see it finished.

A beautiful piece. I was fortunate to know Joyce. She was a charming lady and so talented. I have her books, tons of patterns and even some free hand drawings of hers. I have a few of the patterns from (I believe it was) Crafts and Things. I have recently cleaned out tons of painting books as my interests have changed, but not any of Joyce's books.
