Another thing, with the Kindle Fire....it will read it to you just like and audio book, it is wonderful. I can paint all day and listen to my story or sew and listen or knit and listen.....it doesn't have to be an audio book.

I have the latest Kindle fire hd. It is wireless. I only hook it up to the pc to download my books that are on my hard drive. I can go on line with the Kindle anytime.

Overdrive software does work with Nook Simple Touch. You need to use Adobe Digital Editions on your pc. Then you transfer the book to the Nook. The Nook predates Kindle. If you need more help, you can send me a message and I can help. I have been helping library patrons use ebooks since 2005.

Go here: http://www.pixelofink.com/ sign up for email notice and get free books everyday. It's easy. No account needed but your Amazon sign up. It's the best sight to keep up with all the free books listed. Also the Amazon Kindle Lending Library you can borrow books that aren't free if you have Amazon Prime.

You can't read Kindle books on a Nook unless it is a Nook HD+ (the tablet that is running Android). Once you have the update with Google Play, you can add apps from the Google Play. This includes the Kindle app. Then you can read Kindle books on the Nook HD+.
Nooks read the EPUB format and Kindles read the Kindle format. I am not sure if the Kindle Fires can install the Nook app from their market. I haven't played with one.
You can read books from Gutenberg on your Nook. http://www.gutenberg.org/ These are public domain books.
I am not sure about free books for Nooks. I will start looking for sources. I am usually busy with books from libraries on my Nook.

Free books and low price books for Nook are on Barnes and Nobles website. All are the same as titles as the Amazon Kindle free and discounted books as my friend has the Nook and gets the same free books I get on my Kindle
