I was one of 6 Susans in just my homeroom in 9th grade. Thank goodness college friends dubbed me Daisy for some unknown reason.

My parents wanted a son, but they got another daughter but stuck with the boys name they had picked out

Lyndsey Dale I am called Dale but if a stranger should telephone the expect that the Dale is the man of the house

my husband and I once owned a motel and in the accommodation books it was noted that the motel hosts were
"Merv & Dale" we got a lot of business from the gay community

How about being a JUDY born in 1946,
the 1st year of the Baby Bomers.

I went to school with 7 and graduated with 5.

When I was working or changing jobs you
can bet there was a Judy already there.

So I became "J J" to make things easier.

It would amuse him to no end to find that now at age 64, I've started a handmade purse business and am calling it Lizzy Gail Bags!!

I'm getting a kick out of it that you call yourself Gladys! My favorite auntie was Aunt Gladys, and I have such happy memories of staying over at her house, and being treated to life like my cousin (an only child, she; one of five, me) It was like the Hilton there, and we slept out on the covered porch and giggled all night, and ran thru the sprinkler, and bought fudgesickles when we were allowed to walk to the neighborhood store. I hang my sheets and towels on the line in the sunny weather, and have fond memories of Gladys!

My niece is a Gail. Her given name is Abigail. My sister adopted her at 5 months and instead of calling her Abby, as she had been in the foster home, she changed it to Gail. New life, new name.

I am a nurse and used to work with newborns in the 80's, you are sooo right. April was big then, too. I remember we had 4 April's in the nursery at once, three April Dawn and one April Rose. I asked each mom how she came up with the name and she said she liked it cause it was unusual.

Have never met a kid with my son's name, Sawyer, but once heard someone yelling at their kid named Sawyer at an amusement park.
In 13 years of pediatric nursing I never took care of a kid with my name... Susan (or Sue or Suzy, etc)
