Well, I get started doing one thing, then think about something else I need to do and feel bad cause I am not it that...I just need to not worry about trying to do everything at the same time...got to get a routine I guess.

I know that once I get back to the states and get get my hands into REAL dirt, I'm going to have to make time for quilting. I love gardening and haven't been able to have a garden in almost 12 years. Growing up, Dad and I tended the garden. Was just a small one, about 1/2 acre and we grew everything or attempted to grow everything we could. Dad worked in the Landscaping Department at Univ of RI and in order to get a raise one year, he had to go to the Master Gardener's Course. Well, since the state was paying for it, he went. And guess who went with him? ME!! The state paid for me to go too! I loved learning new things and Dad and I took our new found knowledge and had an even BIGGER garden the next year. We were growing (ok, attempting to grow) all sorts of fruits, veggies and flowers that we had never tried before.
I CANNOT WAIT TO LEAVE HERE!! 42 more days!!!!

I am so ready to get out into the garden...I can hardly wait. The gardenhoses are layed out and as soon as the snow melts ans the ground dries a little I will start. I do look forward to the days of rain so that I can sew though. Now that is the best of both worlds.
I am not sure how much I will get done once the harvest season gets here though!

Garden has been turned here and ready for tilling. Fist round of onions are already in the ground. Few things will be planted in another week or so, some will wait till just after Easter. Other than onions, broccoli and potatoes, most everything is planted after Easter. We plant religiously by the almanac!!  In the summer, I will garden in the day and sew/quilt at night.

almost all of my gardening is done first thing in the morning..when it is cool out..i take my coffee and the furbabies out there with the clippers..dead head flowers, cut flowers to bring inside.I weed alittle at that time too. i put thick layers of newpapers, after the garden gets going, and add grass clippings on top..helps keep the weeds down.
the sun in not in my backyard until around 1 or 2pm. sometimes i sit on my butt and drag my coffee around with me, and hand cut the edging of grass. i love it is the morning..when it gets too hot,i head inside to sew.
( i keep a bucket outside and put some water in it for fresh cut flowers, and another one for minor weeding..)

Even with a splitting headache, I walked outside to peruse the winter damage and when I saw the little teeny iris sprigs poppong up I giggled with delight.
Around here I garden in the morning and late afternoon. Inside during the heat doing inside hobbies. I tend to sit on the deck and do hand sewing in the afternoons. Too many bugs at night to sit out.
