I love the Celebrity Sweet 100's and the Yellow Belles (Yellow Pear)
They produce so well that I take quart bags full to church to pass out to other tomato lovers. Nothing brightens my day like "grazing" the tomato patch with a salt shaker in my hand!! Yum-Yum!

Ooooohh.... and if you are having a slug problem, you can use the salt shaker to take care of that at the same time!

Love the yellow ones. When I was a kid, growing up in Sacramento, my mother grew the best tomatoes. The ones in stores now, taste like cardboard. One in a while we get wonderful cherry tomatoes.

The last two summers here in Denver have been on the cool side. My tomatoes haven"t ripened until late August and they weren't very flavorful. From the radio I learned that the nights must be 45 or higher for tomatoes to ripen. The soil must stay warm. They suggested covering the soil around the plant with black plastic or black ground cloth to help heat and mantain the warmth though the night. Guess I have my work cut out for me come spring. I'm also going to try the Early Girls also. Happy Gardening

We also plant several varieties. We like Brandywine for everyday eating, Romas for sauces and salsa, and heirloom yellow are to die for!!!! We also grow a couple of beefsteak, (grown for our area).

We make our own tomato sauce for pizza & Spaghetti sauce, so we like the pear shaped Roma VF variety. Being in Florida, I have to change to the Heatwave Hybrid due to the intense heat in summer here, but both are very tasty & make great sauce. Our neighbor loves them right off our vines. We share all our produce with her.
