We were without power for 21 days a few years ago during an ice storm here. Believe it or not you learn how to cope!! And praying helps. We also had a fireplace and plenty of wood which was a real blessing.

We are as ready as we can. We have had a bad storm last night. Ground was saturated and it blew limbs and tops of trees down. Not looking forward to Irene but, we have been through them before on vacation on Top Sail Island in North Carolina.

Have my treadle geared up to go and my kerosene lamps. Still have to go to Harris Teeters for dry ice for the freezer. I am ready. LOL
