Live 5 1/2 blocks from the beach and they are asking for volunteer evacuation........but looking out the window right now, one wouldn't believe that there is a storm coming.

Beaches are open today but notices have been sent out that the offices, beaches and pools will be closed both Saturday and Sunday......hopefully, God willing, all will be back open on Monday.

My fright is a very large, and I do mean VERY large tree about 10' in front of my home....

Thank you for all the prayers for a calm in the progress of Irene..who knows, she just may turn around and go out to sea.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all that are afflicted with this horrendous storm moving your way - I pray all will remain safe and sound... God bless one and all on the east coast!

I live in central New Hampshire and they are telling us it could be our worst hurricane in 70 years! My son and his family live in the Washington DC area. None of us know the exact path of this storm as it has changed twice in the last 24 hours. Everyone along the east coast must be prepared!

I wish everyone in its path, minimal damage, no loss of life or property, and above all, safety!
    God Bless everyone!!

Remember those solar powered lamps that are popular for landscaping? Bring them inside at night when the power goes out. Not wonderful but safer than candles and better than the dark!

To all of you in the path of Irene, God be with you and protect you and yours. Pray that your power is not down that long. My prayers are with you all.

I live on Long Island and was here for Gloria. At that point we lost power for about 10 days. Since I had well water, we had no water for that time. I wasn't bored because I had a small child and keeping him occupied took up my time :)
Just keep your head, have drinking water available, even if you have "city water" and don't forget a manual can opener.
Also stay away from any large trees.

CH and I are leaving for an impromptu road trip west after lunch today. We are directly in the path and house is right on the sound. We'll be glad to say "goodnight, Irene" I can tell you!
