Cats can't take asprin but dogs can. Our vet has ours on asprin for arthritis. He also takes Benedryl for his allergies. I know that anti-acids are bad for them.

Yes, I give my dogs baby aspirin. Use sparingly as it is a blood thinner but it can help them through a sprain or something. If it is an ongoing problem see your vet, they have new drugs now for arthritic dogs.

Due to a hip problem, the vet told me to give my little dog a baby aspirin 2 times a day...I get the orange chewable ones...Funny Girl aka Devil Doggie, chews them right up...lol...on the next visit, the vet asked if the aspirin-taking was helping her hip and if there was any problem I had giving her the aspirin...when I told him no, I gave her the orange ones, he now tells me they will give her gas...so, I tried the regular ones but she won't swallow them...just spits them out...I guess it's just easier to put up with a little "gas"...and with the gas prices now, I wish that I could somehow convert her "gas" to run my car...lol...

Yes, you can give your dog aspirin ONLY - no tylenol or ibuprofen - I give my 25lb dog an 81mg aspirin (baby) - also can give dogs benadryl - my dog got hives one time - covered every square inch of his body - I was freaking out because we are at least an hour away from any vet - they told me to give him benadryl and within 20 mins he was back to normal - good for people too so I always keep aspirin and benadryl in the house and car.

We gave it to my DD's hound dog when his hip bothered him. He is on a doggy glucosimine now and doing much better. But he only got low dose asprin and only 1 per day. He is 70 lbs the asprin I think was 81mg??? Its been awhile and I don't have the bottle here.
Vet said it was fine.

If the vet says it's OK, my collie learned to like bananas when I dropped a piece in her bowl when I was eating one. After that I put a pill in a piece of banana in with her food.

I give my dog 2 Bayer baby aspirins every day. He had bad hips and legs. Had a hard time getting around. The aspirins help alot. It's a rat terrier, corgy mix and getting old, but I love him.

a low dose is 375 milligram twice a day. the buffered aspirin is easier on their stomach.
