That is very interesting quiltingloulou!! Nothing in the states like that. We have these huge megaplex with 20 theatres. I have moved from one show to another a few times and never got caught. I use to have Netflix but ran out of titles that I wanted to see. They just don't make much I want to see unless it is on PBS!! Waiting patiently for Downton Abbey to premiere in January !!

Yes, the title of the movie actually was 'About Time.' I realize my thread title could imply that I think it's about time there is a good movie.

Sounds like a lovely fun place.

That movie is showing in our town at the moment. It costs $8 for adults and we get free coffee and cake except during school holidays. We also have one movie a month that is 'art house' to satisfy the alternative groups. Sometimes there is unusual theme food to match the movie. The only thing I don't like is that they never show x rated movies and if you want to see them you have the return expense of a 200 kilometre journey to the next town and it costs $16 to go to the movies. It means the movie has to be very good to warrant the interest.

We have been to the movies several times this year and seen some pretty good adult films (no, not porn)! "Gravity" with Sandra Bullock was good and entertaining. "Ender's Game" was really thrilling without being gory and tacky, and "12 Years a Slave" was interesting and hard to watch. We (DH and I) like to go to the movies. There is a matinee that costs $6.00 per person and sometimes it has been a command performance since we have been the only patrons for the movie. I usually purchase a water and it ends up being $13.50 for two. Not too bad. It gives us something to do on dreary days.

I started a thread about this film a few weeks ago and am happy to see another recommendation. We paid $6.50 each on "senior day". Last week we saw "Gravity" in 3-D (a real experience!) and the senior discount was one dollar off - I never ever thought I'd see the day where I pay $13.50 to see a movie! A bigger shock since it's something I never buy was my visiting stepdaughter having popcorn and a soda for the "special combo price" of $11.50. When I was a teen-ager a date was very often a movie and a burger afterwards. How do today's young couples manage that?

The last movie I went to see on the biggest screen I could find was The Hobbit. Great movie but I know the books back and forward to know the story. The next part will be out soon. I want to see the new quilt movie The Persian Pickle Club!

Love to hear about a good flick - we try to catch the Sr. matinee prices when we go, which is only occasionally. We have Comcast cable, but there are so few movies that I want on there, it is annoying!

Since I am retired, I can go to the matinees which are usually around $4 - 6.00. I am very fortunate.
