Sunday was a perfect snow day. The snow was falling and it was beautiful!! And it was good packing snow! I was explaining to my twin grandsons, 13, how to make snow bricks and build a wall to stand behind and have snowball fights. Logan says, "gramma, how do you think of this stuff?" I'm wondering, how do you not? Kids need to spend more time making their own fun and less time with electronics doing it for them. I love my grands, and to prove it, I went out and helped!! That was sooooo much fun! Anyone else remember playing in the snow and enjoying it?

Sounds like a great day to me. I agree, kids should get out more, and we should get out with them.

I have only built a couple of snow forts in my youth but they were fun. I have built a bunch of snowmen though. Cold, snowy weather used to much more fun for me then.

My cousins and I would make playhouses out of raked leaves. More like make a blueprint of the floor plan of a building using leaves as the drawing line. It was fun. We made mansions, hospitals, schools, and homes. We spent all day making the buildings. Funny how the rooms of our dream houses back then are mostly the same layout as our homes we live in now. Playing with what we had available was the best creative training we could ever have.

I used to go out with my boys till it got uncool to play with mom. One day after a verrry long day at work and digging out of the snow early morning, my kids were outside playing throwing snowballs. They hit me when I got out of the car. I was so mad I threw some back at them. I was rejuvenated. Was 9:00 at night by the time we got back into the house. Threw couple pizzas in the oven and talked until we went to bed almost midnight. One of the best nights of my life. The TV never saw the on switch. My DGDs saw me throwing snowballs at their dads also, they got in on the fun.

I remember we used to have a dirt hill in our backyard and my brother would make a river channel down the hill with bridges over it, put his army men in place, pour a bucket of water at the top and watch the men wash away. Great fun. He's an engineer now. Play pays off!

I grew up in the 50s and entertaining ourselves was about all we had. Snowball throwing, sliding on ice, sledding, hitching a ride on slow moving cars, holding onto the bumper. Making snow angels. We never worried about frost bite and I never heard of anyone having it either.
