I never remember to take the bags to the store. I quit buying them. I just ask for paper bags and recycle them.

I have plenty of the reusable bags. Now if I could just remember to take them INSIDE the store!

My store has a sign on the door reminding you "did you bring your bags?" - after forgetting a few times they now have me trained!!

I can not say how many I have made, BUT I really like your idea of finding them a thrift stores etc and covering them.
