I have been on HRT for 28 yrs. My Dr took me off of them this past March & I have flashes something terrible. They are getting somewhat better, but I would love to go back on the HRT. She seems to think it is healthier at 57 to not be on them. Trying to tough it out. That is the only thing the pills helped with.

My Dr took me off them last summer-absolutly terrible time of year to do that!!! Have had bad hot flashes ever since. Summer is terrible and winter is only a little better.
I would rather put up with the chance breast cancer sometime in the future and have a good quality of life while I still have a chance of having one!!
I always thought that they did not last more than a few years...but then there was not (still not) all that much info floating around for this part of our future!
Have tried the One-a-day for 'mature' women + menopause relief---did not help one iota!
Would like to know more about black cohosh though....off to Google I go........................

Ladies, there some other things to do to help you. Some foods contain natural estrogen. Anything soy - soy milk, soy beans, other beans and lentils. There are some other products that may help, including some creams you get at the health food store. It is worth it to give it a try. Many ladies find that a B complex supplement.
Hormone replacement therapy may also help you feel better. It does have side effects, but some of them are good. HRT only increases your chances of developing breast cancer is tiny amount. Especially if you do not smoke. For some ladies this is the only relief they get.
If you are truly miserable as some of you sound, you probably should talk to a doctor. Don't make yourself continue to suffer. Do a little research on line and you will find all kinds of things that helped other people. I found a vegetarian diet very helpful, but I couldn't have survived without HRT after my hysterectomy.
