Well, at least you knew what kind of meat it was. I hate eating 'mystery meat'. Very few things have I refused to eat but that bowl of chicken anus soup was too much for me. Looked like a bowl of rubber bands!

Love turtle. Yes it has about seven different tastes. Used to have a cafe in town that served the best turtle, but not anymore. Last week went out to eat with some friends at a new restuarant that had frog legs. They were not as good as the ones we used to catch at home when I was a kid.

How was it cooked? Floured and fried like chicken fried steak...hubby did this outdoors in the electric skillet, not sure whether I'd like the smell in the house.

Let me give you all a clearer picture of this particular turtle. He was quite large...about 16-18" across the shell. You could have stuffed a tennis ball into his mouth. My little chickens would not have had a chance. Not really something you would want to try to "catch" to release elsewhere. I'm glad he's gone, and hope there are no more around.

I've never tried it, but I've heard it's good. I don't eat much meat, so I will probably never know.

    Turtle is very good.
My Mom would pare boil it and then fry it.

This type of turtle (Snaping Turtle) is
entirely different from the box turtles
    you are talking about.

I have a hard enough time eating meat in general ;-) . I have disassociate myself that it was once a living animal.

The way my kids love those turtles..I could never harm one and eat it....but I don't judge others ..to each their own.
I'M WITH YOU, I CAN'T HARDLY EAT ANY KIND OF MEAT, IT JUST KINDA TURNS MY STOMACH. I DO EAT SOME THOUGH. BUT I COULD BE A VEGETARIAN VERY EASILY.
