This whole tragedy is, and is going to continue to hurt not only our ocean, animals, and humans, but will continue on for many years. To think it could have been prevented really makes me angry. AND it makes me wonder how many other oil rigs are needing repairs that aren't being done, or done properly? How many ships are out there with equally bad repairs that should have been taken care of before they left the docks?

I hope that congress puts bills in effect that hit these companies HARD, so HARD that taking the risk of making shoddy repairs/or over looking needed repairs will no longer be an option for them.

Is there anyone out there who is boycotting this company?

How can anyone in good conscience buy from that company??

It is such a terrible thing and so hard to cleanup. It's killing everything in it's path. If it isn't one thing it's another terrible.

What is terrible, is that off-shore drilling will continue, as will these disasters. Sadly, the bottom line is always money.

It's not the money, but rather the love of money which in turn equals greed that is behind everything bad. They took a big gamble here because they are already cemented and were almost finished. They thought they could pull it off and save the cost involved in making repairs. Unfortunately, the end result is 11 dead men, families reeling from their loss, the devastation to the environment and wildlife, and so much more. Now the cost is much much higher than a few repairs would have been. So very sad.

I'm sure there was someone who was trying to make a point to the man above them that this needed to be done, and his boss said no way. The boss will probably still be with the company and the guy who wanted repairs will be fired and they'll lay the blame on him. Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

I talked to a guy yesterday whose father works for a company that makes some chemical that cleans up oil. The powers that be refused to use it. Makes ya wonder....
