Handbags ala Mode
After I finished my Splash of Color quilt....

My little neighbor came over to look at it. I call her little because she is 80 something years old and tiny. She loves to come over and pet the fabrics and quilts. Last week she asked me to call her when I was ready to quilt the quilt on the longarm. I did and she was so excited.
Anyway she just loved this Splash quilt, so I decided to make her a little hand bag out of some of the squares. I will go over later and take it to her. I used batting for the inside and quilted a little then I lined the insides with some cute pink heart fabric and also put some pockets. I made her the bow tie for each side.
Then I was in bag mode lol. I made two more bags with a line of African fabric that I've had for 10 years lol. I bought them from an African man at the Paducha Quilt show. They weren't my kind of fabrics but I just wanted to support him. The fabrics are a bit stiff and just different. I thought about them as I was making the little bag.
So I am going to finish out this line by making a couple more bags for friends that I love lol....one of these is mine and the other is for a friend. I lined one with an Egyptian fabric and the other with this gold and black design. I only had a little of the middle pane of the bag so I tore those into strips and joined them for both bags. I really like how they came out. I used that stiff pellon that you would line a lampshade with or bags etc.
