my hair went white right in the front, back when i was in my late 30s. i tried to keep up with my "skunk streak", as my kids called it--but it didn't matter how often i colored it, or what kind of color i used--that white just didn't want to be colored. two days later, there were always very obvious white roots right in the front. i gave up. now when i look at it, i laugh, because there are people who actually pay money to get that streak in their hair! thanks, mom, for the inheritance!

I have finally put a picture of myself as my Avatar. The color of my hair is just like my mom's. Colored it a few times when it started getting gray, but it was too expensive and too messy for me to do by myself. Maybe I would look a few years younger if I colored it, but I would need to lose 70 pounds to make the package complete and I don't see that happening! I get lots of compliments on my hair, especially the color. I know I am fortunate that it is not yellowish or salt & pepper. Thanks, Mom. I probably wouldn't like being a brunette again anyway. We'll never know, 'cause I'm not coloring it, ever!

I colored for many years since I was a teen.... Brown, red, blonde in-between..... Til it got to be too much to cover without roots in 3 days...So I toughed it out til it grew out. Got a really stylish cut and I love it!
My color is silver, very shiny and healthy and I would never think of coloring again. I will be 60 next month and I don't think I look it.
For anyone who wants some support, go to Going Grey Looking Great. It is a wonderfully supportive group of women either thinking or going grey.... Great people! Lots of good info...

I decided long ago to just go grey...but my mom in her 80's does still dye her hair...kinda funny...but she doesn't want to look grey...and I decided that I would just let nature do it's thing...not all the way grey yet, but getting there!

I keep trying to, but I get about 6 inches out and just can't stand it. I had a streak above the corner of my right eye since I was 20, never bothered me. By my ears, I can't stand. I'm 35 and don't want to be gray, but cost is becoming a huge factor.

I have been grey so long I don't even remember what color my hair was! I got tired of coloring it too.
Have to add that when I was 36, my son told me I had to do something with my hair. He was "too young to have a grey-haired mother"!!!
