I have acrylic counter to and sink. I like the way it looks, counter tops are easy to clean. The sink has not held up as well, I have to use Clorax spray for stains and Solt Scrub for pot marks. I would not consider granite, as it chips and if porous. Formica is looking better. No way will I put tile in my kitchen.

Mine is just a normal countertop. It does the job. But I was watching some home reno shows and the cement counter tops look pretty cool. they are tinted to the colour you want.... it's just something different that not everyone has. Just some food for thought

I have a stainless steel sink in my kitchen and I love it. My husband wants to replace it with a white porcelain sink, but I put my foot down. The house I grew up in had a white porcelain sink and it ALWAYS looked dirty, no matter what.
However, I wish we still had our old porcelain bathtub. We gutted both bathrooms about 5 years ago, moved walls and plumbing, replaced the one tub we had with an acrylic one, and added another acrylic tub where we used to have just a shower. I HATE the acrylic tubs. Hate, hate, hate them!
As far as countertops, we have tile. My kitchen is all white, the countertops are red tile with white and black trim tile. It's very cheerful. I like tile because it's very easy to do (we installed it ourselves) and I don't have a problem with the grout - I spray it once a month or so with a bleach gel, leave it sit for 3-4 minutes, brush it with an old toothbrush, and wipe clean. We didn't go with granite or anything fancy, because it wouldn't have fit the style of our house (a 70's ranch).

When we bought this house 3 years ago, it had a porcelain sink. I *hate it*. When we get to fixing up the kitchen (we're going fixing the major problems, then the smaller ones, then rooms) porcelain is going and we're getting Stainless.
Our counters are Corian

I just put in new formica counter , it looks like granite and I love it. My sink is stainless steel, is deep and is the size of a double sink, but no divider. Bought that when I was keeping grandbabies and I couldn't bathe them leaning over. They loved having their bath there. Now it's really good for large pans!

I have 12 x 12 porclin floor tiles on my counter an back splash, set as close together as we could get them. very little grout line, wears like Iron, hot pans from stove top to counter, no problem!.have an extra deep sink love them both only change I'd make is an under counter mount sink, no edges around sink to keep clean and just wipe anything on counter into sink. Lg tiles cost me less than $2 each/

You would simply be amazed at how GREAT they can make formica nowadays. Take a look. When we remodeled our kitchen in our old home, we put tile in, and wished we would have spent a little more and gotten Silestone.

We have 4" tiles (counter and backsplash) and a D-E-E-P brushed stainless single bowl sink. Perfect - no problems - easy cleanup and everything fits in that sink with room to spare! That's what sinks are for, dont'cha know?
