You have to go! especially if you like N by NW, the restaurant at Mt Rushmore still looks exactly the same as it did in the scene where Cary Grant is "shot" at least it looked the same to me. There are lots and lots of quilt shops in the area too, several in Rapid City and there's a really nice place in Spearfish too. Have fun, we did!

My three sisters and I went one year and it was awesom.
I think there was more work to be done the year we went.

I liked it a lot. In 2007 we went on a bus tour with AARP. We had a lot of fun. We saw everything on the way there, like Corn Palace in Nebraska, Badlands, the range where the buffaloes are, saw Mt Rushmore at night, went to see a goldmine, etc.. we saw a lot. Everything what was on the agenda we saw. The price was right for 9 days and 8 nights.
We even walked the 330 steps around the statues. It was fun!

DH and I took a road trip about 7 years ago in mid October staying in the town of Custer. We did not realize that many of the shops and restaruants would close or be closed. We drove through eastern Wyoming stopping at Devil's Tower on the way.

My hubby and I rode our Harley out to SD from East TN and of all the places we visited Mt. Rushmore was breathtaking. We had such a good time riding and enjoying the fresh air. It is a trip we won't ever forget. We did find the neatest place that had the hugest cinnamon roll! It is a trip everyone should see especially our young people.

Went there 3 years ago - awesome! BUT don't miss the trip to the Badlands. That was really beautiful! Enjoy the trip. We drove there from AZ and saw a bit of the country.
