My husband will buy something for the house a couple months before and says, "This is our anniversary present." Grrr.

That's a good idea. Has to be cheaper than a necklace. Where does one acquire/find a silk cord?

You could Make one yourself. Check out the trims section of JoAnns or Hancocks. You can buy jewelry making supplies fr the clasp. Or find a bead shop and they can help you with this. silk cording comes in lots of colors.

Thanks for the information. There is a shop in town where they make jewelry so will check there next week.

Update: I bought the ring, wrapped it and now I wait for our anniversary to hand it to my husband to give it to me. I can't wait!

Yes, I do! We;ve been married now for 51 years and DH has given me many beautiful things and I love him for it. BUT if I see something I really like I buy it, for whatever reason that is near. I love antique/vintage costume jewelry and have quite a collection now, especially earrings (my father called them earbobs), necklaces and bracelets; love each and every one of them.

Treat yourself and get the jewelry you like.

Sandy; I found a beigeish colored silk ribbon for the cross which looks nice with the gold metal and topaz stones on the outside. It also does not detract from the garnet and amethysts in the cross either. Looked at a couple of different colors but went with the beigish as it lopoked the best. Wore it easter morning and DH thought it was a new piece but looked relieved when I said it was just a new chain for something I'd had for a bit.
