I subbed in a school one time and had two students with names I found interesting - Easter Bunny (what were those parents thinking???? - and when I called the roll, using her given name she was quick to point out she went by 'Bunny') -- the boy's name was Pipes!

Oh, alright. His name is Loto. (pronounced "low toe". It not "LOTTO" as in the state lotto. He'll kill me.
One of those old French names?
I suppose so. There were he and his dad and another man and his son. Only 4 around. Now it gets even more complicated. My uncle's name was Louto... different pronunciation, but my DH was called the same thing. Very aggravating. There were several of those around. So all of his life he's had to "explain" his name. In fact, just today the topic came up. He was introduced and the man said, "Is that a nickname?' When he said that it wasn't, the man said< "I know you're joking."

As a first grade teacher I can remember having a CASSIUS CLAY _______, Woodrow Wilson ________ and Jacqueline Bouvier_______. Those name paired with a Cajun last name was rather funny.
